Writing Optimized Web Content
By Shalom Issenberg | October 12, 2007
Writing optimized web content is different from writing for publication off-line. I have hired and trained many writers for developing optimized web copy. I found over and over again that good writers are hard to find. Finding a quality web writer is is like winning the lottery (maybe not the New York State lottery – but difficult).
To write good web copy (optimized web content) you need a few different skills sets:
- Of course you should be a good writer
- You should have good sales skills (rhetoric) because web copy in most cases is sales copy
- You should have a good understanding of SEO (search engine optimization) as web copy should be optimized for search engines, thus considering, keywords: selection, density, and prominence.
- And of course research skills or required industry knowledge/experience depending on subject.
Creating optimized web content /web copy is a specialized job.
So leave it to the professionals
